Product Information

Yellow Sweet Blossom Clover Seed (Melilotus Officinalis) is commonly used for bees in honey production, cover crops, conservation, wildlife food plots, pastures, hay and green manure or soil building.

This clover variety is known to attract honey bees and beneficial predatory wasps.  Yellow Sweet Clover is not a true clover because it is actually more closely related to alfalfa.  Sweet clover leaves look very similar to alfalfa, but the alfalfa leaflets are serrated only on the tips where sweet clover leaflets are entirely serrated.  Yellow Sweet Clover plants grow as tall as 4 ft. and are considered a biennial clover seed.  Yellow Sweet Clover when compared to white flowering types of sweet clover will bloom roughly 2 weeks earlier and will also mature earlier, has finer stems and is less winter-hardy.  Yellow Sweet Clover will grow where alfalfa, red clover and white clover fail.  It can thrive in clay or sandy soils and tolerates low fertility and wet conditions.  Yellow Sweet Clover can fix or add as much as 100 units of nitrogen per acre, as well as 2,500 to 3,500 lbs. of dry matter, making this clover seed variety very appealing to organic farmers.

To conclude, Yellow Sweet Blossom Clover is a great choice for soil building, organic green manure, honey production and erosion control in poorly drained soils.

Yellow Sweet Blossom Clover is non-GMO.

Fantastic seed.

Great seed. Just didn’t do well on the section of my property that just clear of dense hardwoods and hemlocks. But I blame myself for trying to grow it by broadcasting the seed onto compacted clay type soil that has never been farmed. Was growing great until we got a minute nah of 90+ degree weather and no rain. Would still highly recommend purchasing this seed though. Will definitely buy again in the future.
