Determine the square footage your area by measuring length x width (ex. 10x10 = 100 sq. ft.)

One order contains 36 3" x 3" grass plugs
1 order or 36 plugs will cover 64 sq. ft. at 12 inch spacing (15" center to center)
1 order or 36 plugs will cover 80 sq. ft. at 15 inch spacing (18" center to center)
1 order or 36 plugs will cover 112 sq. ft. at 18 inch spacing (21' center to center)
*Spacing of plugs should be 12" (edge to edge) for best results.
*Divide the total square footage by 64, 80 or 112 sq. ft. to determine the number of orders you will need.

Mow weekly at a height of 1 to 3 in., and only water 3/4 to 1 in. weekly. Fertilize 3 to 4 times annually with 16-04-08. Seville thrives when soil pH is between 5.5 and 7.5.

Additional Information for Fall & Winter:

Winter performance of the Sod Pods will depend on the grass variety.  St. Augustine is a warm season grass and has the least cold tolerance.  Sustained extreme cold temperatures, such as below 25 degrees, can seriously damage or kill St. Augustine.  Sustained would mean periods of freezing temperatures that last more than 6 to 8 hours.  This is generally not an issue in the southern half of states in the Gulf Coast and Southeast.   In the event that a sustained hard freeze is predicted, it would be beneficial to water the St Augustine right before the freeze takes place.  This is because the water acts as an insulation because moist soil does not get as cold as dry soil.

Zoysia and Bermuda are much more cold tolerant than St. Augustine.   These grasses go dormant in the winter which protects their new growth from freezing.  Temperature should not be an issue for Zoysia and Bermuda anywhere in the Southeast or Atlantic Coast of the US.  However, because these grasses go dormant in the winter, it is important not to overwater.   With shorter and cooler days in the late fall and winter, over watering can expose the grass to fungus and other diseases.

In summary, Sod Plugs can be planted throughout the Fall and Winter, but it is important to keep an eye out for any predicted hard and sustained freeze.  Be careful to not overwater, unless watering specifically to act as an insulator prior to a freeze.

Instructions

When choosing to start a new lawn, remove old vegetation by using a de-thatcher, power rake or tiller to kill the existing vegetation. Rake or drag the area to remove debris and dead grass for a clean area. Ensure the soil is leveled and loosened to allow the seed to have good soil contact once spread on a clean seed bed.

If you have an area with heavy weed coverage, we recommend starting fresh by killing and removing the existing vegetation. If you choose to use chemicals, herbicides or fertilizers, you must check with the product's manufacturer prior to planting new seed to ensure the proper waiting period.

When overseeding an existing area, mow your lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippingsx. Rake or drag any areas that have dead thatch or debris.
