Dolomite sweetens the soil while improving soil texture and promotes root growth, and provides a balanced ratio of Calcium and Magnesium. Dolomite increases the availability of soil nutrients, and aids in building and maintaining proper soil structure. It also provides for a more favorable pH range (which is 5.5 to 7.0 for most plants and grasses). Dolomite, when used regularly, can keep your soil in the proper pH range.

To raise your pH by 1 unit, you will need to put out at a rate of 100 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. Many people will put out 50 lbs. per 1,000sq. ft. twice a year instead.
