Hancock's Mild Microgreens Seed Mix
Back

Hancock's Mild Microgreens Seed Mix includes a mix of six aromatic yet mild flavored varieties with contrasting leaf (cotyledon) shapes and textures. Microgreens are big on nutrition and flavor and can often be too expensive to purchase.  Microgreens are young vegetable greens that fall somewhere between sprouts and baby leaf vegetables.  Now you can grow them easily and cost-effectively at home in a small area such as a windowsill, using supplies from around the house. All you need are a sunny spot, a shallow container, potting soil and Hancock's Mild Microgreens Seed Mix!

Product Information

  • Application or Use: Microgreens, Fodder
  • Germination Time: 1 - 5 days, under optimal conditions
  • Growing Locations: Warm Season, Transition Zone, Cool Season
  • Height: 1 - 2 inches
  • Sunlight Requirements: 4 - 6 hours, full sun for best results
  • Advantages: Packed with concentrated nutrients; great source of beneficial plant compounds like antioxidants.
  • When to Plant: All year.

Microgreens are packed with concentrated nutrients and incorporating them in your daily meals is a must!  We chose six varieties which are rich in potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium and copper.  Microgreens are also a great source of beneficial plant compounds like antioxidants.  Research comparing microgreens to more mature greens reports that nutrient levels in microgreens can be up to nine times higher than those found in mature greens.

Enjoy Hancock's Mild Microgreens as a simple addition to your greenhouse, home garden or window sill.  You will see how incredibly easy they are to grow as they do not require much equipment or time and can be grown year-round, both indoor or outdoor.  Microgreens should be enjoyed raw, juiced or blended and can add a splash of color and flavor to a variety or cold and warm dishes for adults and children alike.

These can be grown in a greenhouse or a protected area very easily. Optimal soil temperature range for germination is 55-75 degrees. Sow the seeds evenly 1/8-1/4 in. deep in well-drained potting soil. Keep the soil consistently damp, but not soaked; this can cause mold to form. Hancock's Mild Microgreens Seed Mix requires a minimum of 4 hours of direct sunlight, daily.

Hancock's Mild Microgreens Seed Mix are ready to harvest on average 10-14 days after planting. Harvest time will depend on varieties, growing conditions and final size desired. Microgreens are recommended to be cut at 1 in. to 2 in. in height so that they are not overly tough. You can store cut Microgreens in a plastic bag in your refrigerator.

Poor germination

We got less than 20% germination and the whole mess just smelled rotten using our normal sprouting routine which works great, even with cleaning with hydrogen peroxide during a pre-cleaning.

Sorry, not a fan

Good flavor, but maybe I did something wrong, the rate of growth between the seed varieties was off and many seed shells didn’t fully release the leaves. A lot of picking.
