Hancock's Hickory King White Dent Corn Seed is well-adapted to the southern growing conditions. "Hickory King" was introduced by A. O. Lee of Hickory, Virginia back in 1880. This is a white, open-pollinated heirloom variety that produces plants that can get as large as 12' - 13' tall and will produce very large ears of corn. Ears have tight husks which do a great job of protecting the ears from beetles and worms naturally. Plants do have a strong root structure which will support the very tall foliage making it perfect for silage. Hickory King Dent Corn is a perfect variety for old time roasting ears when corn is harvested in the milking stage and also a very tasty option to be ground into cornmeal for cornbread, hominy and grits. Yum!

Product Information
The Hickory King Corn matures in approximately 85-110 days. There are approx. 1,000 seeds per pound. The corn can grow between 12 and 13 feet tall. The ears are 9-10 inches with recommended rows spaced at 30 - 36".
Plant during spring or summer, after the last chance of frost at a rate of 14 to 20 lbs. per acre and at a depth of 1.5 in. Plant in rows that spaced 1.5 to 2 ft. apart, with seed spacing of 10-12 in. This seed will germinate when nighttime temperatures are consistently above 65 degrees and it grows best in full sun. This variety of corn can be grown throughout the warmer months up until fall, as long as time is permitted for harvest before first frost. Succession planting is recommended with at least two plantings, one in early spring and one in late summer/early fall.
Seedsman's Tip: For pollination purposes, corn should be planted in a square plot with rows on 30-36" spacing. Planting a few long rows will result in poor germination and absence of kernels on the cob.
