Product Information
Granite is recommended for use wherever a premium/elite quality bluegrass turf is needed. It can be cut to 1/2 inch and is suitable for golf course fairways and roughs. It can be used in sod blends, on sports turf, in parks, and on high quality home lawns. Compared to many varieties, Granite has fairly good adaptation to shady conditions.
It is rare to find the overall disease resistance that Granite possesses. It has demonstrated very good to excellent resistance to leaf spot, melting out, summer patch, dollar spot, brown patch, rusts and powdery mildew. The overall disease resistance is so good, that it is a variety that can be planted straight and does not always have to be blended with other varieties.
Granite is a versatile variety and can adapt to the highest levels of management, or to middle and lower maintenance regimes as well. For the best quality turf, timely fertilization and irrigation are recommended. About 1/2 lb of actual N per month of growing season is recommended, but higher and lower amounts of N can easily be tolerated. The recommended cutting height ranges from 1/2 to 3 inches.

Seeding
A seeding rate of 2 - 4 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. is ideal. The soil incorporation of a pre-plant fertilizer, based on a soil test, is recommended. Generally, incorporating 1 to 1-1/2 lbs of actual N per 1000 sq. ft. is helpful to ensure a quick start. Under good late summer and early fall conditions, germination, and seedling emergence can be expected within 7 - 14 days after planting.
