Chewings Fescue is mostly utilized as a turfgrass for overseeding greens, but is also well-suited for lawn applications across North America. It performs best in well-drained soils and is more drought resistant than bluegrass. Chewings Fescue has a slower growth habit that makes it desirable for low maintenance areas.
Chewings Fescue grass seed can be used in mixtures without becoming too aggressive. Longfellow 3 is widely known for its reduced rate of vertical growth, and extreme tolerance for being tightly mowed. Longfellow 3 chewings fescue is a moderately enhanced endophyte chewings fescue with 36% Epichloe typhina endophyte, which provides resistance to a number of leaf and crown feeding insects and nematodes.
