We based our Hancock's Erosion Control Seed Mix was developed from department of transportation recommendations, as well as years of farming, grassing and seeding experience. This erosion seed mixture is ideal for seeding roadsides, vacant lots, high-grade slopes, new construction zones, and all other erosion-prone areas. Hancock's Erosion Control seed mixture has proven to effectively control topsoil, stormwater sediment, and dust erosion by the rapid establishment of natural vegetation.

- Tolerance: Excellent erosion control capabilities with drought tolerance, and exceptional insect and disease resistance.
- When to Plant: Recommended planting time is spring and summer when night time temperatures are consistently 65+ degrees and 3 months prior to first frost.
Our spring and summer Erosion Control grass seed mixture contains 33% Common Un-Hulled Bermuda , 33% Pensacola Bahiagrass and 34% Browntop Millet. The Pensacola Bahiagrass and Common Bermudagrass will interweave with one another, providing the permanent erosion-control vegetation. Pensacola Bahiagrass is a bunch grass, spreading by root stolens under the soil, and the Common Bermuda spreads by surface runners. The two grass varieties coexist very well in most any soil condition. The fast-germinating Browntop Millet will germinate in 2 to 4 days, with proper soil moisture. The Browntop Millet will prevent soil and seed erosion while effectively providing an adequate germination environment for the permanent grass varieties.

Seeded at 10 lbs. per 1000 square feet or 100 lbs. per acre this mixture will effectively establish low cost permanent erosion control.

Planting Browntop Millet in excess of 50 lbs. per acre can cause more harm than good, as it absorbs all the available resources needed to establish the permanent Bermuda and Bahiagrass. This seed mixture has proven to establish nearly instant ground cover vegetation if properly applied. Hancock's Erosion Control Mixture should be applied on level-ground applications at 100 lbs. per acre. For slopes, drains, ditches, holding areas, washouts, and all other extreme erosion-prone areas, apply 150-250 lbs. per acre. Refer closely to the planting guide provided with your order to ensure a successful seeding and establishment experience.
