Sterile Sorghum Sudan Seed (TREATED SEED) - Sterile sorghum is used for cover crops, silage, haylage, grazing and other livestock forage and farming applications. Commonly grown throughout the southeast and mid west. Great for summer grazing cattle and hay production during the spring and summer months. Sterile sorghum will not reseed itself therefore there shouldn't be any regrowth from seed.
Hay Production: Sterile sorghum should be planted at a higher (20-30 lb.) seed rate for hay production. This increases yield and decreases the exposed area for weeds to fill in between cuttings. Should be harvested after the plants reach 24" inches or higher. The maximum quality TDN (Total Digestible Nutrients) is between 24"-36" in height.
Grazing: Begin cattle grazing at 24" and rotate when plants are grazed down to 8". Planting rate for grazing should be 15-25 lbs, per acre.
