PENKOTED seed has been coated (treated) with a green colored liquid seed coating material containing a specific fungicide, a natural insecticide and a growth stimulant. These ingredients then dry on the unhulled seed and are time-released into the soil as needed once the seeds are planted. The coating helps protect each seedling from soil born diseases and insects. The coating also makes the seeds less attractive to birds.
PENKOTED is a registered trademark of Pennington Seed, Inc.
Seeding Application Rates:
New Turf Applications: 2 - 3 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. (1 to 1.5 kg per 100 sq. meters)
Turf Repair Applications: 0.5 -1 lb per 1000 sq. ft. (0.25 - 0.5 kg per 100 sq. meters)
Bermuda Triangle Blend should be planted when soil temperatures are consistently above 65° F (18º C) in full sun on well-drained soil. Care must be taken not to cover the seed with too much soil - no more than 1/4" (1.91 cm) covering the seed is recommended. Soil moisture around the seed must be maintained for about 1 to 2 weeks. Under ideal conditions, germination may begin within 10 to 14 days; allow 14 to 18 days for completion. Full coverage may be attained in 4 to 6 weeks; when planting early or late in the season, more time may be needed for establishment.
Triangle Bermuda can be maintained at mowing heights from 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) to 2 inches (5 cm). Applying 3 to 5 pounds of nitrogen per 1000 sq. ft. (1.5 to 2.5 kg per 100 square meters) per growing season is adequate. Do not remove over 1/3 of the leaf blade per mowing for healthy turf.
Dormant bermudagrass may be overseeded for year round color, but is not generally recommended on turf less than 6 to 8 months old. Immature turf may be damaged by the vertical cutting and scalping process, leaving it unable to compete with the overseeded species during the spring transition.
