Blackhawk Arrowleaf Clover – Blackhawk Arrowleaf Clover is a much improved re-seeding arrowleaf clover.  Designed and bred to tolerate disease and soil pathogens, it promises a much higher forage production.   Blackhawk was developed and released by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in 2012.  Blackhawk Arrowleaf Clover gets its name from its dark black seedcoat.  This dark seed coat proves increased tolerance to fungi, wilt and disease when compared to light colored varieties such as Yuchi or Apache.  Blackhawk Arrowleaf also has an earlier maturity date then Apache and Yuchi when planted on the same date.

Arrowleaf Clover can be an important part of forage production and beef production.  Especially in the Southeastern U.S., Arrowleaf clover has long shown strong potential when planted or overseeded into warm-season pastures in the Fall or Spring, depending on location.  When tonnage of forage production on Blackhawk is compared to Apache or Yuchi, Blackhawk Arrowleaf is far superior.  Blackhawk has the advantage of going dormant about a week earlier than Apache meaning it is less likely to compete with warm-season forages such as Coastal or Tifton Bermuda grass.  All in all,  there is no other seeded Arrowleaf clover that comes close to Blackhawks forage capability or disease resistance.

Blackhawk Arrowleaf Clover is also a heavy reseeding clover providing top notch perennial food plot for deer, quail and turkey which can withstand being heavily grazed.  Can be planted with other legumes and grasses or seeded alone for food plot.
