Buck Forage Clover Seed - Buck forage clover is a great addition to food plot planting. Clover seed varieties are high protein legumes containing as much as 28% protein. Buck Forage Clover will increase antler size, body weight and health of your deer heard. Adding Clover food plot seed to your deer management program will also condition your soil by adding valuable nutrients and minerals. Clover varieties are considered "soil builders" and are very effective nitrogen adding legumes.
Clover Food Plot Seeding - Prepare your soil to remove or kill any existing grasses or weeds by tilling or disking. Applying herbicide such as roundup will help to speed this process up. After the soil is tilled allow two to three weeks of rest time for and regrowth of weeds and grasses or germination of exposed weed seed. Reapply herbicide to kill these unwanted weeds or grasses. It is suggested to allow 7-10 days after a herbicide application prior to seeding. Spread the seed by broadcasting or drilling at the desired rate. Use a light drag or roller to sift or wipe the seeds in lightly. Fertilizer should be applied after the plants reach 3-6 inches in height. 2-4-10 at 250 lbs per acre works well.
